Who are we?
Madeira Properties in the Sun is directed by Frederico Teixeira. He has been in real estate since 1992 in South Africa and then Madeira and deals mainly with foreign clientele.
Freddie was born in Madeira and is very well-qualified to advise you on the perfect location to match your needs.
Most important for his foreign clients, Freddie lived abroad for over thirty years, giving him a keen sense of what it is like to be a foreigner away from his home country. This empathy clearly affects his dealings with his clients, making them feel at home from the very beginning of the relationship, which extends far beyond the purchase of a property. He has completed several courses in Real Estate, which are required by the government licensing body “IMOPPI” to be able to manage a real estate agency.
Freddie is joined by his son-in-law, Robin Stickells. Robin was born and grew up in South Africa. After living in England for a number of years, he and his wife, Catherine, travelled around the world to decide where to settle and chose to come to Madeira! Having a background in managing customer service contracts and negotiating between sellers and buyers of services, his skills are highly appropriate to the services offered by Madeira Properties in the Sun. Robin's passion to serve the customer comes through in everything he does! He is also trilingual (English, Portuguese, and Afrikaans, akin to Dutch and Flemish).
Both Freddie and Robin are committed members of the service organisation, Rotary International. Freddie has served in clubs in both South Africa and Portugal since 1982. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Funchal, Madeira. Robin is also a member of the Rotary Club of Funchal, Madeira.
Freddie is also an avid member of the Academia do Bacalhau, a Portuguese service and charity organisation, dedicated to the fellowship of Portuguese people all over the world.
Freddie's wife, Thelma is the founder of the International School of Madeira, the only totally bilingual (English and Portuguese) school on the island. Thelma is originally from South Africa, of Scottish and German extraction and so, here in Portugal, she provides her own measure of internationalism to her school as well as to Freddie's business!
